2013: reinforced support from the Carrefour Foundation to Food Banks on an international scale.

Drawing on Carrefour's core business as a retailer, the Carrefour Foundation coordinates and relays donations and foodstuffs donations throughout the year. In 2013 it stepped up support to food aid, particularly to food banks, through various means.

The Carrefour Foundation doubled this year its donations earmarked for food aid – more than €2 million dedicated to food solidarity projects: food donations and collections as well as social grocery stores, agricultural sectors, nutrition programmes and catering trade. In 2013, a donation of €718 000 was given to support Food Banks.

The Carrefour Foundation also provides logistics support, giving local associations the infrastructure they need to transport and store foodstuffs – especially fresh products. Since it was first set up, the Carrefour Foundation has financed the acquisition of 36 cold rooms and more than 140 refrigerated vehicles including 36 vehicles financed in 2013 for Food Banks across the world.
